The instantiation of a controller class is an operation that takes place outside the reach of your code. A made-to-measure factory class takes care of that. The ASP.NET MVC framework provides such a class in the form of DefaultControllerFactory. The DefaultControllerFactory class defaults to using the parameterless constructor and fails if it doesn t exist. If you want to change something in the process of creating a controller instance, you have no other choice than to write and register your own controller factory. I ll discuss this in greater detail in 11, which is dedicated to customizing the various pieces of the ASP.NET MVC puzzle.
